Diving Into SwiftUI and Revealing My App Idea | Weekly review - ep. 2

Hello, hello, everyone!

It’s time for another weekly catch-up. This week, I’m taking you deeper into my journey with Swift, a code review of my recent projects, some budget insights, and, yes, the big reveal of my app idea.

Navigating the World of SwiftUI

Starting off with SwiftUI, it’s been quite a ride. The idea that everything is a view in SwiftUI, from a simple text field to complex buttons, is fascinating yet sometimes confusing. The whole concept of nesting and modifiers in SwiftUI is like a puzzle, where every piece affects the final outcome in unexpected ways.

And yes, SwiftUI’s nesting levels and modifiers are something else. They can be a bit of a headache, but I'm getting the hang of it, slowly but surely.

Data Storage: A Whole New Challenge

Moving on to the topic of data storage – it's a whole new game compared to what I’m used to with relational databases. I thought my SQL skills would give me a head start here, but turns out, app development plays by a different set of rules.

A Peek at 100 days of swiftui Apps

Let's shift gears to the code review. I’m excited to show you the four apps I’ve been tinkering with as part of 100 Days of SwiftUI course. They’re a testament to my learning curve and a reminder of the small victories along the way.

Budget Review: More Than Just Numbers

Now, about the budget. Staying below the baseline and managing personal expenses while unemployed is a challenge. But this journey is about giving myself the time and space to learn, try, and see if I can make it in this field. I’ve made some lifestyle changes to ensure I stay on track financially. It’s all about prioritizing, right?

The App Idea: Unveiled

And now, the big reveal – my app idea. As a health-conscious, risk-averse individual, I’ve decided to create a vaccination tracker, inspired by CDC guidelines. It ticks all the right boxes – challenging yet attainable, covers the basics, solves a personal problem, and doesn’t add to my financial burden.

What’s Next?

Looking ahead, I’ll continue balancing learning new concepts in SwiftUI with applying them to my app. It's about finding that sweet spot between theory and practice.

Thanks for tuning in. Can’t wait to share more of my journey with you next week. Your thoughts and feedback are always welcome, so drop a comment below!
