Building Superior Heatmaps in Power BI with SVG 🔥

I have pushed these SVGs further than before, allowing for more customization:

  • would like to have gradient? change one switch;

  • would like to add sizing based on value? switch another.

  • would like to add text on top? enable the 3rd.

  • want the icon version? that is available too.

  • want to make sure scaling is separate for negative and positive values? I've got you covered!

Why use SVG for heatmaps in Power BI?

When you want flexible visualization options without the limitations of native or paid custom visuals, SVG becomes your secret weapon.

This tutorial walks you through the entire process - from setting up the matrix to styling it for a professional look.

I've made the code available in my GitHub repository so you can implement this immediately.
